How to Use This Course

Work through the nine lessons in order — the paperwork stacks on top of itself and skipping ahead means coming back to fix gaps later.

Bookmark the official portals. Every lesson links directly to sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es, the oficina de extranjería, the BOE and your consulate — you’ll come back to these dozens of times.

Keep a relocation notebook. Write down every NIE, TIE, appointment reference, IBAN and gestor email in one place. By month three you’ll have a personal folder worth its weight in gold.

Print the action checklists. Each lesson ends with a printable next-action list — tick them off as you go and you won’t lose track of any paperwork.

Practise the Spanish phrases out loud. Even broken Spanish gets you faster service at the oficina de extranjería, the bank counter and the doctor’s reception. The phrases are what unlock the rest.

What This Course Is NOT

This is a practical orientation course — not legal, tax or immigration advice. Spanish regulations change frequently and individual circumstances vary widely. For visa applications with unusual elements (criminal record, prior overstays, complex family situations, large overseas assets), engage a licensed gestor, abogado or accredited asesor fiscal. Always verify current fees and deadlines on the official government portals linked in each lesson before submitting any form.

Before You Start

Five things to have ready — gather them before lesson 1 and you’ll move twice as fast.

A passport valid for at least 12 months beyond your planned arrival. Renew at home before you fly — renewing abroad is slow and expensive.

Proof of income or savings. Six months of payslips, pension statements or bank balances — you’ll need these for the NIE, visa and rental applications alike.

An apostilled birth certificate (and marriage certificate if applicable). Required for several Spanish administrative procedures and harder to obtain once you’ve left your home country.

Two private health-insurance quotes. Required for most visa categories — lesson 2 walks you through what coverage actually satisfies the regulation.

A clear budget for your first six months. Spain’s upfront move-in costs (deposit + agency fee + first month) typically total 3–4 months’ rent — lesson 7 has 2025 figures.
